All Essentials

What to Pack

Sun protection, reef-safe kit, safari neutrals, and the practical items you will actually use.

Mozambique is casual and warm. Pack light, but don't skip the essentials — some things are hard to find outside Maputo.

Coast & Islands

  • Reef-safe sunscreen, hat, and polarised sunglasses
  • Light cover-ups for sun and village visits
  • Water shoes for rocky beaches and boat transfers
  • Dry bag for boat trips and dive days

Safari & Bush

Neutral colours (khaki, olive, stone), closed shoes, and a warm layer for early morning game drives. Binoculars are worth bringing.

Don't Forget

Insect repellent, sunscreen, sun hat, light-coloured clothing, long sleeves for evening mosquito protection, any prescription medications, a universal adapter (Type C, F, and M plugs — M is widely used in South Africa and some lodges in Mozambique), passport copies, and photocopies of insurance documents.

Dive Travellers

Reef-safe sunscreen, dry bag for boat trips, and certification cards. DAN Southern Africa dive insurance is recommended for scuba trips.
